James (Jim) Hill, DVM

Dr. Hill attended Purdue University Veterinary School. He started Vista Hills Animal Hospital in December of 2011. He has practiced on the south side of Indianapolis for 12 years before that. He has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1999. He likes to keep educated by going to many continuing education seminars. In his spare time he likes to go on mission trips, attend church, rebuild small engines, gardening, tractor pulling, and likes to volunteer when he has time. Dr. Hill chose his staff because the majority of them have worked with him in the past. He has high standards of care while, being flexible and understanding client needs and financial situations. Dr. Hill was a 10 year 4-H member and showed rabbits. His experiences in 4-H are the reason he became a veterinarian.

Dr Mitchell

Emily Mitchell, DVM

Dr. Emily Mitchell was raised in Texas and found her passion for caring for animals at a young age. She attended veterinary school at Kansas State University and after graduation moved to Indianapolis to join the Vista Hills team. Dr. Mitchell and her husband, Jakota, live with their rescue mutt Howie and cat Pippin. In her free time, Dr. Mitchell enjoys hiking, reading, and exercising.

Fawn

Fawn, Practice Manager

Fawn has worked in the veterinary field for over 18 years and loves it more and more every day. One of her favorite parts about working in this field is the bonds she is able to create with the clients and patients. She is married and has 2 boys, Zachary and Benjamin. She also has her 4-legged children, a Golden Retriever named Jersey Lynn, a Bernese Mountain dog named Piper Rose, and her 2 cats A.J. and Purrcy. She has a passion for photography and takes plenty of pictures while on the sideline watching her youngest son play football. She also loves coaching and watching her oldest son bowl in her “spare” time.

Morgan, R.V.T.

Morgan is a Registered Veterinary Technician who graduated from the Vet Tech Institute at IBC in 2022. Morgan has a strong passion for helping pets and giving their families peace of mind. Morgan has 4 pets of her own- 1 spoiled Shih Tzu, 2 crazy kitties, and 1 vibrant leopard gecko!

Shelly

Shelly, Veterinary Assistant

Shelly has been in the veterinary field for many years. Her love for animals grew during the 10 years she was involved with 4-H as a child. Her love for animals carries over into the work she does everyday. It is easy to see that animals have always been her passion. All her free time is usually spent with her daughter, Jordyn, and a french bulldog named Gabi.

Christina

Christina, Veterinary Assistant

Christina was born in Indianapolis and has worked in Veterinary Medicine for over 18 years. She came to Vista Hills working as an assistant in January of 2022. Christina lives on the southside with her husband, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. She as her Associates degree in Applied Science, but chose to come back to the Veterinary field because of her love for animals.

Lauren, Veterinary Assistant

Lauren has worked in veterinary medicine since 2018. She completed her Bachelor's of Science in Animal Science at Purdue in August of 2024, and has since enrolled in Purdue Global Veterinary Online program to become an RVT! During her time at Purdue, Lauren worked at a local Humane Society as a veterinary assistant. She was also an active foster home for neonatal kittens for two years, and has raised 6 so far! In her free time, she enjoys reading, hanging out with her three cats, and spending time with her family.

Amanda, Veterinary Assistant

Amanda's love for animals started at a young age. She has been in the veterinary field since graduating from Harrison College in 2012. Amanda lives on the southeast side of Indianapolis with her husband, 2 sons, and their dogs and cats. All of her animals are rescued.

Tatum, Veterinary Assistant

After graduating from Purdue University in 2023, Tatum built a rewarding career in veterinary medicine, where she has been providing compassionate care for over three years. Her passion for working with animals is evident in her daily work, and she finds balance outside of the clinic by pursuing her hobbies of baking, spending time outdoors, and relaxing at home with her cat, Frankie

Liyah, Veterinary Assistant

Liyah is a recent graduate of Purdue University’s Veterinary Nursing Program. She is very passionate about patient care and client education. In her free time, she enjoys going on hikes and adventures with her two dogs Artie and Bo. She is looking forward to taking her VTNE and becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician in November!

Alex, Veterinary Assistant

Alex has always loved animals since she was little, and always bringing some type of animal home with her. This did not thrill her mom much at all, but she was always allowed to keep whatever it was. She is engaged to her fiancé, Kevin and has a son named Hendrix. She has 2 dogs-Norman and Rue, 3 cats-Willie Nelson, Minnow, and Taboo, 2 guinea pigs-Wednesday and Enid, 2 goats-Padme and Binks, and a miniature horse named Baby Billy. To say the least she has her own little zoo and enjoys every minute with them.

Caylin, Veterinary Assistant

Caylin’s passion for animals began at a very young age. An avid equestrian, she received her bachelor’s degree in Equine Business in 2017 and has been primarily working in large animal clinics since. While making a shift to small animal medicine, her love for the veterinary field has grown and loves learning all that she can about a new field of medicine for her. In her spare time, Caylin can be found either spending time with her husband, and their dog and four cats, or in the barn developing her young horse Navi as a sport horse.

Dena, Head Receptionist

Dena has been in the veterinary field for over 25 years. During this time she has taken in several rescue animals and currently has a sweet, but feisty 13 year old cat named Caroline. Dena has been married for several years to her husband Rick, has 3 grown daughters, and 5 grandchildren. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, road trips with her husband, going to state parks, music, and cooking in her free time.

Caitlin

Caitlin, Receptionist

Caitlin has a passion for working with animals and has worked in the animal field for over 10 years. She grew up always having dogs in her life and currently has 2 mixed breed babies, Polly and Bridget. She rescued them as puppies and truly loves and treats them as her fur kids. She also enjoys reading, cooking, especially baking, and has a degree from Ivy Tech in Culinary Art.

Leanne, Receptionist

Leanne has worn many hats since starting the veterinary field in 2006. She has settled right into one of our Customer Relations roles. She helps provide support and comfort to pet owners while they navigate their pet's healthcare needs. She has always had a passion to help animals and has had many rescues throughout her life. She grew up in Columbus until she met her husband and they now reside in Seymour with Stewie, their Boston Terrier.
