James (Jim) Hill, DVM
Dr. Hill attended Purdue University Veterinary School. He started Vista Hills Animal Hospital in December of 2011. He has practiced on the south side of Indianapolis for 12 years before that. He has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1999. He likes to keep educated by going to many continuing education seminars. In his spare time he likes to go on mission trips, attend church, rebuild small engines, gardening, tractor pulling, and likes to volunteer when he has time. Dr. Hill chose his staff because the majority of them have worked with him in the past. He has high standards of care while, being flexible and understanding client needs and financial situations. Dr. Hill was a 10 year 4-H member and showed rabbits. His experiences in 4-H are the reason he became a veterinarian.
Paul Lory, DVM
Dr. Paul Lory was born and raised on the south side of Indianapolis. He graduated from Franklin College and Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Lory has practiced veterinary medicine in the Indianapolis area for the past 13 years. He and his wife Julie have two sons, Josiah and Nathanael, and a lab named Gus. In his spare time, Dr. Lory enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, watching sports, and attending church.
Emily Mitchell, DVM
Dr. Emily Mitchell was raised in Texas and found her passion for caring for animals at a young age. She attended veterinary school at Kansas State University and after graduation moved to Indianapolis to join the Vista Hills team. Dr. Mitchell and her partner, Jakota, live with their rescue mutt Howie and cat Pippin. In her free time, Dr. Mitchell enjoys hiking, reading, and exercising.
Fawn, Practice Manager
Fawn has worked in the veterinary field for over 18 years and loves it more and more every day. One of her favorite parts about working in this field is the bonds she is able to create with the clients and patients. She is married and has 2 boys, Zachary and Benjamin. She also has her 4-legged children, a Golden Retriever named Jersey Lynn, a Bernese Mountain dog named Piper Rose, and her 2 cats A.J. and Purrcy. She has a passion for photography and takes plenty of pictures while on the sideline watching her youngest son play football. She also loves coaching and watching her oldest son bowl in her “spare” time.
Karsyn Neff, R.V.T.
Karsyn was born and raised in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She graduated from International Business College from the Vet Tech Institute in December of 2018. She has passed her boards and is a Registered Veterinary Technician. She has a cat named Buddy and a lovable dog named Bruno. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time out at Havens Hope Ranch and Stables with all the horses and hanging out with friends.
Lisa Rubio, R.V.T.
Lisa is one of our registered veterinary technicians, having joined us in the fall of 2020. She graduated from SUNY Delhi in upstate New York. In 2001 she moved to Indianapolis with her husband, their black lab, and their 3 cats, and has enjoyed raising a family here. She is passionate about providing excellent pet care, and enjoys connecting with other animal lovers. In her spare time she enjoys road trips with her family, vacations "back home" to the beach in New York, hiking, cooking, gardening, entertaining friends, caring for her yellow lab (Hooper) and 3 cats (Franklin, BooBoo, and Paddy), and being active in her children's activities.
Shelly Knapp, Veterinary Assistant
Shelly has been in the veterinary field for many years. Her love for animals grew during the 10 years she was involved with 4-H as a child. Her love for animals carries over into the work she does everyday. It is easy to see that animals have always been her passion. All her free time is usually spent with her daughter, Jordyn, and a french bulldog named Gabi.
Sierra, Veterinary Assistant
Sierra has been with us since June of 2021. Growing up, Sierra's family had always been pet owners and that sparked her love for all animals and her determination to care for them all. Sierra has a son named Carter that is the light of her life. They both share their best friend, a very cute and sweet husky mix named Finn. In her spare time she loves getting outside as much as possible, spending quality time with her family, and going on fun trips.
Shelby, Veterinary Assistant
Shelby has an extensive background in the large animal field, receiving her Equine Dental Technician Certification in 2013, and training horses and giving riding lessons professionally for the past 10 years. She recently joined our practice to extend her knowledge in the Vet Med field. She has a variety of animals, including 2 horses (Goose and Scarlett), 1 cat (Raven),and 3 dogs (Daisy, Echo, and Sui).
Rachel, Veterinary Assistant
Rachel joined our team in the fall of 2021. She graduated from Ball State University with a bachelors degree in chemistry and the aspiring goal of attending vet school in the near future. Having only furry or scaly siblings, she instantly found her connection with the members of the animal kingdom at a young age. From multiple species of fish, hedgehogs, gerbils, and dogs, she has always had a companion in her life. She currently has two Yorkies, Felix and Brody, and a goldfish named Cheddar. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling around the world, painting or drawing pretty much anything and everything, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
Mike, Veterinary Assistant
Mike joined Vista Hills in December of 2021. He has been a 4-H member for 10 years showing goats and chickens. Growing up around animals helped him know at an early age he wanted to be a veterinary assistant. His family had horses, goats, chickens, dogs, and cats, so there was always an animal in reach. Mike graduated from Harrison College with an Associates in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. In his free time he enjoys spending time in the outdoors, camping, hiking, and fishing.
Christina, Veterinary Assistant
Christina was born in Indianapolis and has worked in Veterinary Medicine for over 18 years. She came to Vista Hills working as an assistant in January of 2022. Christina lives on the southside with her husband, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. She as her Associates degree in Applied Science, but chose to come back to the Veterinary field because of her love for animals.
Dena, Head Receptionist
Dena has been in the veterinary field for over 25 years. During this time she has taken in several rescue animals and currently has a sweet, but feisty 13 year old cat named Caroline. Dena has been married for several years to her husband Rick, has 3 grown daughters, and 5 grandchildren. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, road trips with her husband, going to state parks, music, and cooking in her free time.
Caitlin has a passion for working with animals and has worked in the animal field for over 10 years. She grew up always having dogs in her life and currently has 2 mixed breed babies, Polly and Bridget. She rescued them as puppies and truly loves and treats them as her fur kids. She also enjoys reading, cooking, especially baking, and has a degree from Ivy Tech in Culinary Art.
Amanda came to us in August of 2020. She graduated from Indiana University with a bachelors degree in English. She has a daughter named Hailey and together they have 2 cats and a hamster. Amanda loves gardening and collecting a variety of cool rocks and gems. In her spare time she spends her time in her garden and on adventures with her daughter.
LeAnna came to work with us after many years of working with animals through 4-H. She has been involved with 4-H for over 10 years. She has a young daughter that enjoys working with animals just as much, especially riding horses. She has always had dogs and horses of her own. When she has time off, she loves to go trail riding and camping as often as possible with her family.
